Last Call: San Antonio Food Bank’s Free Produce Markets End October 31 (2026)

The San Antonio Food Bank‘s farmers’ markets — one of the best sources of free and low-cost fresh produce in the city — close for the season on October 31, 2026, according to the Food Bank’s official event calendar. That gives you about three weeks to stock up.

These markets exist to get fresh, nutritious produce into neighborhoods that don’t have easy access to it. If you’ve been meaning to go, now is the time — they won’t be back until spring.

What the markets offer

The markets sell fresh fruits and vegetables — much of it grown on the Food Bank’s own farms — at prices far below grocery stores, and they accept Lone Star (SNAP/EBT) cards, so your benefits stretch further on fresh food. WIC is accepted at participating market stands too.

To find this week’s market locations and hours, check the Food Bank’s event calendar or call 210-337-3663 (phone lines open Monday–Friday 8 AM–6 PM, Saturday 9 AM–3 PM).

What happens in November: Food4SA

Starting November 1, the Food Bank shifts into Food4SA, its annual food-and-fund drive running through November 30. Be clear on what that is: it’s a donation drive — the community giving food and money so the Food Bank can stock up for the holidays. It is not a distribution event.

So if you need food in November, don’t wait for Food4SA. Use these instead:

  • Regular Food Bank distributions — the weekly mobile pantries and partner sites run year-round. Find one near you through the Food Bank’s Find Food page or call 2-1-1.
  • Free Thanksgiving meals — our 2026 Thanksgiving guide lists verified turkey dinners, food box giveaways, and holiday distributions across San Antonio.
  • SNAP benefits — if you’re not enrolled, you may be leaving grocery money unclaimed. See how to apply for SNAP in San Antonio.

Go before October 31

Three weeks goes fast. If fresh produce is the hardest part of your grocery budget, the farmers’ markets are the single best deal in town until they close — and your Lone Star card works there. Check the calendar, pick a market day, and go.
