If your family gets SNAP in Texas — the program most people still call food stamps — February is the shortest month of the year, and that matters for your grocery budget. Texas loads Lone Star Cards on a staggered schedule from the 1st through the 28th, based on the last two digits of your EDG number. In February 2027, that schedule fills every single day of the month: the first deposits land on Monday, February 1, while households whose EDG ends in 86–99 do not see a deposit until February 25–28. One group also lands on Presidents Day. Here is your exact February date, how to check it, and how to plan the stretch. Applying for SNAP is always free.
February 2027 SNAP payment dates in Texas
Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) issues SNAP on the schedule in its Texas Works Handbook (section B-250). Find the last two digits of your EDG number and read across:

Your EDG number is printed on your approval letter (form TF0001) — and that same letter prints your own deposit day, which is the safest source of all. Many Texans see the money show up the night before their scheduled date, so it is worth checking your balance that evening.
The February timing to plan for
February 2027 has only 28 days, and the deposit schedule uses all of them. Three dates are worth circling:
- Monday, February 1 — if your EDG ends in 00–03, your February deposit is scheduled for the first day of the month.
- Monday, February 15 — Presidents Day — if your EDG ends in 50–53, your deposit is scheduled for February 15, which is Presidents Day, a federal holiday. The HHSC schedule lists February 15 as the deposit day for this group. Check your balance in the Your Texas Benefits app that day, and if it does not show when expected, call the Lone Star Card help line at 800-777-7328 — do not assume a holiday changed your day without checking your own case.
- February 25–28 — if your EDG ends in 86–99, your deposit lands Thursday, February 25 through Sunday, February 28, the last day of the month. For the 96–99 group, that is a full month after the January 28 deposit. That is not a delay or a cut; it is simply where the staggered schedule falls in the shortest month.
A few ways to get ahead of it:
- Stretch the January deposit. If you can, set aside pantry staples when your January money arrives instead of waiting for February. Our January 2027 payment dates guide has that schedule.
- Keep your case current. A missed renewal or an unanswered HHSC letter can interrupt a deposit entirely. Our Texas SNAP renewal checklist walks through what to check.
- If your benefits stopped, act fast. See what to do if your food benefits stopped in Texas for the steps to check your case and reapply.
Which schedule am I on?
- Certified on or after May 1, 2023 → the table above.
- Certified before May 1, 2023 → keep your existing day. Your schedule was set when you were first certified and does not change just because the handbook table exists. Do not switch to the table above on your own — the day printed on your TF0001 award letter is your day.
- A long break can move you. If you were certified before May 1, 2023, then had a break in benefits of at least six months and reapplied after May 1, 2023, you move onto the current table above. This is the number-one reason people think their deposit “moved.”
How much could your household get?
The current federal fiscal year amounts took effect October 1, 2026, and stay in place through September 2027. These are the maximum monthly amounts — most households get less, because the actual benefit depends on income, household size, and deductions:
| Household size | Maximum per month |
|---|---|
| 1 | $306 |
| 2 | $562 |
| 3 | $808 |
| 4 | $1,023 |
| 5 | $1,217 |
| 6 | $1,463 |
The minimum monthly benefit for one- and two-person households is $25. One Texas rule to remember at the register: since April 1, 2026, you can no longer buy candy or sweetened drinks with your Lone Star Card. Regular groceries, milk, and plain water are unaffected.

Frequently asked questions
What day will my February 2027 SNAP benefits arrive in Texas?
It depends on the last two digits of your EDG number. Deposits run February 1–28 on the HHSC schedule in the table above. Households certified before May 1, 2023 keep the day printed on their TF0001 award letter.
Will my February SNAP deposit be delayed because February 15 is Presidents Day?
The HHSC schedule lists February 15 as the deposit day for EDG numbers ending in 50–53, and February 15, 2027 is Presidents Day, a federal holiday that falls on a Monday. Check your balance in the Your Texas Benefits app or call the Lone Star Card help line at 800-777-7328 if your deposit does not show when expected — do not assume a holiday changed your day without checking your own case.
Where do I find my EDG number?
On your TF0001 approval or award letter from HHSC. The letter also prints your deposit day. If you cannot find the letter, call the Lone Star Card help line at 800-777-7328.
Did SNAP amounts change for February 2027?
No new change takes effect in February. The current maximums — $306 for a household of one up to $1,463 for six — began October 1, 2026, and stay in place through September 2027. Your actual amount depends on your income, household size, and deductions.
