Check Your Fridge, San Antonio: H-E-B Backyard BBQ Chop Salad Kit Recalled Over Hidden Soy and Almonds

If you shop at H-E-B, check your fridge before you eat that salad kit. One H-E-B salad kit is being recalled because it may contain soy and almonds that are not listed on the label. For anyone with a soy or tree nut allergy, eating it could cause a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

What happened

On October 27, 2026, Taylor Farms of Dallas, Texas announced a recall of its H-E-B Backyard BBQ Chop Salad Kit. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted the recall notice the same day. The kit may contain undeclared soy and tree nuts (almonds) — the packaging does not disclose them.

This is a labeling mistake. The salad itself is not spoiled or contaminated. It is only a danger to people who are allergic to soy or tree nuts.

How to check your salad kit

Look at the back of the plastic bag. Your kit is part of this recall only if both of these match:

  • Product: H-E-B Backyard BBQ Chop Salad Kit, 13.4 oz plastic bag
  • UPC: 041220300457
  • Best If Used By: October 30, 2026
  • Sold at: H-E-B stores in Texas only

No other Taylor Farms salad kits are part of this recall. If your kit does not match both the UPC and the date, it is not included.

Who needs to act — and who does not

If you have a soy or tree nut (almond) allergy or sensitivity: do not eat this salad kit. Eating it could cause a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

If you do not have a soy or tree nut allergy: the FDA-posted notice says you do not need to respond to this recall. The salad is not otherwise unsafe — this recall is about the missing allergen warning on the label.

Taylor Farms says no allergic reactions have been reported so far.

What to do

  • Do not eat the kit if you have a soy or tree nut allergy.
  • Throw it away, or return it to the H-E-B store where you bought it for a full refund.
  • Questions? Call Taylor Farms at 855-455-0098, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time.
