What to expect before you go

  • It’s really free. No purchase, no catch — most closets run on donations.
  • Hours are limited. Many closets open weekday mornings or just one Saturday a month — call before you go so you don’t waste a trip.
  • Bring ID just in case. Most closets ask for little, but St. Stephen’s asks for ID and Social Security for each household member plus a current utility bill.
  • Stock rotates. What’s on the racks depends on recent donations — if they don’t have your size today, try again another week.
