Halloween week in San Antonio did not have to cost a thing. From Sunday, Oct. 25 through Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, churches, malls, parks and landmarks across the city hosted free trunk-or-treats, festivals and trick-or-treat trails. Halloween is over — every event and deal below has ended. This page stays up as a record of what was free, to help families plan for next year. For what is coming up now, see our free events calendar.
Sunday, Oct. 25 — ended
UIW Trunk or Treat — 5–7 p.m.
In front of the Natatorium, University of the Incarnate Word, 4301 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209. Student groups hand out candy from decorated trunks. Completely free.
Friday, Oct. 30 — ended
Spooktacular Halloween Bash, Tower of the Americas — 7–11 p.m.
739 E. César E. Chávez Blvd. A free night downtown: live music, food trucks, a trunk-or-treat car show, pumpkin carving, a costume contest, moon bounce and a kids Fun Zone.
Saturday, Oct. 31 — ended
Traders Village Trick R Treat Trail — 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
9333 SW Loop 410. The trail itself is free: candy, face painting, crafts, pumpkin decorating and photos. (At the same venue, the CORNy Maze is $10 and Enchanted Lights is $29.99 per vehicle — those two are paid, the trail is not.)
Natural Bridge Caverns Cavern Bat Fest — free trick-or-treating 3–5 p.m.
The Bat Fest seasonal activities are free and kids in family-friendly costumes get free admission to the AMAZEn’ Ranch Round-Up maze. Be straight about the extras: parking is $10 a day, and cavern tours and the other ticketed attractions cost extra.
Ingram Park Mall Mall-O-Ween — 4–6 p.m.
6301 NW Loop 410. Free and indoors — a good pick if the weather turns: trick-or-treating inside the mall, Disney character meet-and-greets, face painting and balloon twisters.
Halloween Artfest at the Contemporary at Blue Star — 4:30–7 p.m.
Blue Star Arts Complex, 1414 S. Alamo St. Free hands-on art activities, a photo booth, candy, a costume contest with art-supply prizes, and the Bad to the Bone dog costume contest.
The Rock at La Cantera Halloween Spooktacular — 6 p.m.
15900 La Cantera Pkwy. Admission is free and open to all ages (RSVP encouraged): trunk-or-treating, a costume contest, a live DJ, a petting zoo and interactive activities.
Hall-O-Fest at Chicken N Pickle — 6–10 p.m.
Free and family-friendly: trunk-or-treat, games and community booths. Kids’ costume contest at 7 p.m., Spooktacular Bingo at 8 p.m., adult costume contest at 9 p.m. The event is run by HUG ME Ink, a mental-health and anti-bullying nonprofit; an optional $10 donation gets a swag bag and bingo entry, but the donation is not required.
Free treats (deals, not events) — both ended
Krispy Kreme: anyone who showed up in costume on Oct. 30 or Oct. 31 got one free doughnut — no purchase or app needed. This deal has ended.
Chipotle Boorito: this one was a deal, not a freebie — a $6 entrée in costume on Oct. 31 from 3 p.m. to close, in person only, with a free Chipotle Rewards scan. Guacamole was extra. This deal has ended.
